in case · sized todayRobert Adam designed Pulteney Bridge for Sir William and Frances Pulteney in 1769. It opened in 1774, lined with shops along its full length on both sides. There are four such bridges in the world: the Ponte Vecchio in Florence (1345), Krämerbrücke in Erfurt (1325), the Rialto in Venice (1591), and Pulteney in Bath.
Icarus is the third shop on the right walking from the Bath Abbey side. Founded in 2015 by Dilek Koroglu, with twenty-five years in silver behind her and a team of artists forging the Octopus Collection to her brief. The shop is small. The case is full. The bridge does most of the talking.

A piece of jewellery is often a piece of art. But it only becomes valuable when emotions are added to it.Dilek Koroglu, founder, twenty-five years in silver
Yes. The Octopus Collection is hand-forged in oxidised sterling silver, hammered and finished by hand, with cubic zirconia eyes set individually. The unique handmade pieces come from a small team of silversmiths Dilek has worked with for years. We are happy to talk through how a piece was made if you ask in the shop or by email.
Yes, internationally. Orders go out in tracked, insured packaging through Royal Mail International or DHL depending on destination and value. Bath is a heavy tourist city and a lot of our pieces leave the shop in hand luggage, but we are also used to posting to the US, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Yes, to a point. We do not run a goldsmithing bench, but if you have an idea close to one of the existing silver lines we can sometimes commission a one-off through the team of silversmiths Dilek works with. Drop in or email a brief and we will tell you honestly whether it is the kind of thing we can take on.
Yes. Pulteney Bridge is one of four bridges in the world lined with shops along its full length, and from the pavement you can easily miss that you are crossing a bridge at all. Look for our window display on the right as you walk from the Bath Abbey side towards Great Pulteney Street. The doorway is number 3.
Mostly what is in the case. We keep a small drawer of pieces under the counter for regulars and for repeat enquiries, but our preference is for the case to be the truth, what you see is what is here. If a piece you saw last week has gone, ask, and we will tell you whether something similar is on order.
Two minutes walk from Bath Abbey, four minutes from the Roman Baths, eight from Bath Spa station. Cross the bridge from the Abbey side and look right. Number 3. If you have walked past it twice, you are not the first.
